Besides a workforce made up entirely of Harvard graduates, Overqualified employs a radically different philosophy. We think our students should improve. We think they should improve so much that eventually they no longer need a tutor. To that end, while tackling specific subjects, standardized tests, and college admissions, Overqualified tutors build into each session strategies to address lack of motivation, low self-esteem, and poor study skills -- things which often prevent students from fulfilling their academic potential.

At Overqualified, we know that being a good tutor is not just about possessing knowledge but also about creatively communicating that knowledge. We also think a tutor and a student should share interests and be able to connect on topics beyond homework or tests. We strive to pair tutors and students based not just on the subject to be tutored but on outside passions -- sports, music, film, and beyond. We believe a good match leads to a productive partnership in which the student can gain academic confidence, inspiration, and independence.
